Bad Timing

How the Time Change Has Messed ME UP

1.  Headlights

This is just depressing at 5pm.

2.  Laundry Overload

It happened before I could hit snooze.
Piles and Piles of laundry developed before my eyes.

3. Creative Hair Styles
(no shampoo or combing required)

I'm lucky to get to work not too extremely, terribly late.

4.  The Holy Grail

I want to sleep!  Dark=Sleep
I'm so tired and I just want to sleep. Alone.

but they are pretty cute snuggle bugs.

5.  Drink the Germ X

I'm growing to hate winter...  nebulizers... and colds!!!

6.  Deadlines

I have totally mismanaged my whole week.
I mismanaged time for meetings, call backs, almost forgot Christmas play practice, and nearly forgot that I had Children's Church.
My list for next week is not looking good.  It's what happens when you put things in the "other" pile.

7.  Carboholic

One weekend.  One weekend for our family to eat a tub of cookie dough that could feed a small African Village for a month.
Time change causes comfort eating.

8.  Don't Cry Over Spilt Pepsi

I will be picking out the french fries from my van for a week.
Practices, late evenings, and dinner times really snuck up on me (meaning too much fast food)!

9.  Fluctuating Temperatures

My classroom in the morning.

My classroom in the evening.

10. Wardrobe Change

Can someone invent the dressy office sweatpant already?

I don't know if I can recover from time change, for now I'm off to bed. zzzzzzzzzz.

Invasion of the Sassy Body Snatcher

It was Halloween,
and mom was super excited!

She had visions of candy, games,
and children delighted!
blast from the past: I was Barbie and The Rocker
The princess dressed in her beautiful gown,
but it was not long before she threw down her crown!

She refused to put on her Princess lipstick,

(if you try again, this Princess may kick)!

The footballer put on his best growl...
but it wasn't long before even he had a scowl!?!

It sneaks through the homes, watching each street...
...attack of the Sassy Child is certainly no TREAT.

The Princess turned and put on a frown,
and used the most inconvenient places to throw down.

This football player was not into the game....

he decided the scare and noise of Halloween was 'totally lame'.

Give me Paranormal...Jason...Texas Massacre with a Saw,

Ha. Ha. I laugh at Freddy Crugar's claw!

This is the scariest of them all-
Invasion of the Sassy Child
no matter how cute and small.

The Sassy Children are strong,
they work as a team...

....they want their own way,
causing blood curdling screams!!!

No time for smiles when you have to wear a coat,
it's much more torturous to always gloat!

How about a Halloween hayride for thrills?
Oh No??
you prefer whining for Halloween chills?

Dear Princess,
Don't you know when wearing a pink trestle....
it is quite unlady like to have to wrestle?

At least Cousin McStuffin' seems very happy,

though the weather (and Invaders) are acting crappy.

Children stay safe from the
Invasion of the Sassy Child!

This horror is simply not for the mild.
too close Mr. E.

Just before I was ready to Kill,
we visit Mr. & Mrs. E's house for Goodwill.

Get me off of this Halloween ride of emotion!
Mrs. E. gives mom chocolate and a magic potion.

Children become calm after
TV viewing,
(with an addition of the E. candy chewing).

This year Halloween really was a bust,
the invaders blew through the streets in a gust.

Our candy pile is pitiful, so meek....
it makes the Sassy Child go weak.

It's the very next day and I'm happy to say,
the Sassy Invaders have went away.

For now everyone is filled with laughter...

How to Teach Like a Pro

This is my 13th year of teaching.
I consider myself a bit of a PRO.  I mean 13 years is a long time.
Take this week,  we are going to The Fair, and I have devised an entire unit on this trip!
We will learn about animals, maps, vocabulary, text, art... it's amazing what you can do with the County Fair.

Today we had a scientific lesson on the makings of cotton candy and we got a few things on video (below).  I won't be one bit surprised if this takes me right to the top.
I will be expecting Bill Gates to call and fly me to his school any day now as both cotton candy expert and guest speaker.  Please feel free to borrow this lesson.

Cotton Candy Making 101

Scientific Method
Purpose (state the problem):
How do I make cotton candy while maintaining a balance of learning and complete control while not losing my job?

Research (find out about the topic):
My research shows that it doesn't take very much sugar to make a BOAT load of cotton candy.  Do not add extra and remove parts.  Additionally, the devil ingredients start out white and then turn pink.  That research in turn tells me red dye is involved with the sugar.  Therefore the formula of Sugar + Dye * Kids + more of them than us - 100% of control =  BAD. VERY BAD.

Hypothesis  (predict the outcome):
I predict the children will take over the room and turn it into a land of cotton candy dreams.

Experiment (develop a procedure to test the hypothesis):
First, we will try not to stick to the wall.
Second, we will give the illusion of actually doing this again.
Third, we will have early recess.
Fourth, we will never speak of this event again.

Analysis (record the results of this experiment):
I can't record this answer, it is too embarrassing.

Conclusion (compare the hypothesis to the experiment's conclusion):
The conclusion to this experiment is that you should read the directions to any machine before turning it on (even more important if you haven't used it).  Further, you should try this when there are not actual children in the room.  Lastly, my utmost forgiveness to the custodian.

Sincerely,
The Pro
