Mission Possible

Sometimes you can really stuck into a rut and miss the bigger picture that God is revealing to you.

You may have to go on an adventure!

Have you considered additional worship outside of a desk or a sanctuary?

In the rain?
In the sun?
 Through the fields?

Through exploration?

Children will show you praise and worship outside of your standard routine.

Meet 007....

Side Note-
Do I look like Mall Cop or what!?!
Mission Impossible:
someone pull the ice cream away from me.

Anyway,
back to the mission...
The agency plans to counter attack by using young people to discover the code that will save us.

You are made in His likeness, you are uniquely and wonderfully made, you are no accident.
from your head to your toes.

To decode the next letter you must  scan your fingerprint and study it’s unique design using your highly powered magnification devices.

This highly scientific laser could make you lose a limb.  You must delicately move through the lasers without detection- be still and calm, do not alert the enemy.
Be disciples for God and retrieve your first clue to finding your first letter!

laser yarn

Do you cut the Red or green wire?
Don’t pick the one with explosive fire!
The enemy hopes to make you all fuss,
but the secret is to check the Book of Exodus.
We know it was the Israelites Moses did guide
but do you know the color of the sea God had to divide?

These cupcakes are da bomb!

Your next command is hidden.
This highly classified information must go public.  STAT.  You will use the copper device to remove the chemical that encompass change.  This is a serious command from John 15: 17-
Be safe agents.

hint:  love one another

Drink this truth serum so that you will only share the true words from Jesus Christ, and you will discover the TRUE final letter!

The scripture reads 15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener."
John 15:  1

If we allow Jesus Christ to grow us like the true vine, he will take care of us on every mission we go in life!

Congratulations agents, mission accomplished.  The agency has been very impressed with your dedication and skills!

Taking care of the bomb so no one is hurt.

This is my favorite photo, who is in disguise here??

I encourage all agents to go on their own mission:  worship God and sing his praises in a new place,
notice something in the present you have never noticed before,
and
know that Jesus can make your struggles MISSION POSSIBLE.

My Heros

I ran across some of the neatest ideas for a Superhero party
http://www.pinterest.com/showclay/superhero-party/,

and I thought how cool would it be to use that theme for Children's Church?
With a son of my own, I realize church lessons can appeal more to our girls.  It offers a lot of things girls enjoy- stories, crafts, coloring, sitting quietly.   Young boys tend to access information in a different way.  To anyone who doesn't believe interest is a huge motivation to learning, ask Connor to read the same sight words he has had since kindergarten and then ask him to name all the NFL mascots, teams, colors, and quarterbacks.  It's amazing what they can remember!
I think we have to show boys the bible is packed full of action, and remember Jesus was absolutely a mover and a shaker too, he didn't reach people just sitting quietly and following all the rules.

Lucky, Superheros are fun for boys and girls!

Prior I put this video together to show the kids a few of my favorite Superheros in their many forms (I went a little crazy with the clip art)-

DIY Super Hero Capes:
Take a plastic (b.day) tablecloth (you could use a lot of superhero colors, but I kept it simple with just black and red),
just fold over the corners and attach some yarn to each side.

I glued a square to the back of the cape, but I now recommend taping with clear tape, and if you use the glue don't put it in the center because it shows up too 'globby'.

Handsome Model

Kryptonite:
(substitute lime green rock candy for safety :) I ordered my candy rock in bulk off of Amazon and bagged individually.)

Matthew 26:41:  41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Stay away from temptation, rather than try to resist it.  How many times do we justify that sin is OK, just this once, as long as we aren't hurting anyone?

After teaching a story that explained how Jesus is our Hero from Luke 4:18,
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has anointed me
to tell the good news to poor people.
He has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners.
He has sent me so that the blind will see again.
He wants me to free those who are beaten down"

the kids decorated their capes in a Jesus is MY hero design.

With their SUPERhero capes, the SuperKIDS completed a short obstacle course that included a Spider Walk, Batman Basketball, Wonder Woman Toss, and eventually ending by placing the scriptures in order with the correct bible verse.

Looking for Love

This morning at church, we went looking for love and found it in all the right places!

I used ten scriptures to remind the children how much Jesus loves them (and me).  Then we went on a scavenger hunt to find  (earthly) treasure.

Each scripture had one word that took them to the next clue.

If I had to do it all over again....I would have picked short scriptures.  I couldn't finish one before they were off to the next.  My plan was to discuss and then move.  So basically I yelled "HEY COME BACK HERE!!" the whole time.

Jesus tells us not to focus on worldly treasures, but when chocolate is involved it really becomes hard to follow the rules.

Remember,
We love because He first loved us. -1 John 4:10
Love is a powerful emotion.

Happy Valentines Day
